Evolution of the senses
Unique locations, homes to unique havens. Markulluko Borda is located on the slopes of Elizondo’s Monte Bagordi in the very heart of the Baztan Valley. Surrounded by ferns, oak and beech trees, not only does it offer the magic and peace of nature, but all the services of the XXI century are just a stone’s throw away.
The BAZTAN Valley and all of Navarre’s Atlantic Pyrenees area are an open invitation to discover artistic, monumental and natural beauty. From Xorroxin, the source of the River Baztan, to the huge Natural Botanical Park of Señorío de Bertiz. From the bewitching caves of Sara, Urdazubi and Zugarramurdi to the 600 megalithic monuments scattered throughout the area. From the utopian gold mines of Urritzate and Aritzakun to the tracks of the old Bidasoa railway. Visit the mills of Urdazubi and Amaiur, and stroll along the Pilgrims’ Road to Santiago, which runs through the valley. Stop off at Elizondo’s Jorge Oteiza Folk Museum and the Santxotena Sculpture Museum in Bozate.
Not to mention the Castle of Amaiur, the last emblematic symbol of the Kingdom of Navarre, where history and culture join hands.
The local cuisine, different routes through the countryside, beautiful villages and a mixture of Mediaeval and Renaissance farmhouses and noblemen’s homes never cease to amaze even the most curious and adventurous among us.
