In Markulluko Borda Rural Suites, we want to provide the greatest comfort to our guests. We seek a sustainable tourism both socially, economically and environmentally. Therefore we use renewable energy, and try to make a responsible use of energy consumption.


A good thermal envelope of the building is essential to maintain a comfortable indoor temperature thus reducing the demand for heating in winter and cooling in summer.


Assuming that the construction is designed and executed with specific technical criteria and building components in order to achieve good sustainable energy efficiency, if we add some easy guidelines for use by the user, you can achieve an optimum comfort temperature and make your stay even more comfortable.

THE GOOD USE OF SHUTTERS AND WINDOWS increases indoor comfort.

In summer and hot weather;

In the mornings, close the windows tightly and close the blinds to avoid direct solar radiation. At night, taking advantage of the lower outside temperature in the Baztan Valley, open the windows and blinds. Combined with the cross ventilation of the apartment, you will obtain a simple and efficient cooling of the interior space.

In winter and cold seasons;

If you feel cold, raise the temperature on the thermostat to about 23-25 degrees and in 10 minutes the apartment will warm up so that it will be necessary to turn it off or lower it considerably, and it is likely that you will not have to turn it on again during your stay, since the installed thermal envelope retains the heat.

We use renewable energies to achieve comfort temperature and hot water, for which we installed a biomass boiler combined with solar thermal panels, to which we have recently added photovoltaic solar panels, so that practically 95% of the energy we consume is clean energy.
